A Matter of Equilibrium
I noticed an unpeeled orange resting on the edge of a ceramic saucer by the window. Curious about its center of mass, I pressed both hands against its dimpled rind and nudged it across the glossy white surface. It wobbled in uneven ellipses, resisting a straight trajectory before settling into a shallow depression on the saucer's rim. Leaning gently against its fragrant, waxy peel, I observed how perfectly the curve of the fruit cradled against the raised porcelain border. A small, self-contained lesson in balance.
