The Sunken Brass Cannon
I strode away from me saucer fortress along the weathered cedar fence, seeking fresh naval artillery! Half-buried in the damp garden mulch lay a heavy brass hose nozzle coupling, tipped upward like a grand siege cannon. With a bold pirate roar, I planted me black boots against a cedar root and hauled on the cold metal rim until it stood angled toward the open yard. Reaching into the dirt with me left hand, I scooped up a smooth, rounded black beetle husk and loaded it right into the hollow brass barrel! Tapping the rim with me wooden cutlass to seal the noon battery can mean only one thing—time to claim me booty!
