Stone Border Vault
Leaving that pinecone behind, my eye locked straight onto a raised limestone curb curving alongside the park's marigold bed! The smooth, sun-warmed blocks formed a neat continuous rim, lifted just high enough off the packed dirt to make an awesome balance runway. I bolted straight up the embankment, dug my sneakers into the stone edge, and took off along the narrow ridge. Halfway through the curve, a dry twig was sticking out across the pathway. No tapping brakes—I planted one foot, sprang upward into a snappy midair leap, and cleared the stick clean before sticking both shoes firmly onto the next flat stone with a crisp, solid thud! Pure line, zero hesitation.
