A Rolling Mechanism
I climbed down from the sill and walked across the wide rug toward the coffee table. Underneath, an overturned toy wooden train car lay resting against a runner board. I crouched down to examine its undercarriage. Two tiny brass axles held miniature wooden wheels in place. I touched one wheel with my thumb, gently flicking its edge. It spun freely, humming with smooth, balanced momentum before gliding to a gentle halt. Satisfied with the alignment, I nudged the car upright, testing how easily all four wheels gripped the smooth floorboards.
