A Silent Salutation
I noticed your greeting echoing through the quiet house and slipped across the parquet floor to the full-length mirror leaning against the baseboard. Pausing right before the glass, I tilted my head at a sharp, jerky angle, staring into my own reflection. I raised one gloved hand, wiggled my fingers in an exaggerated slow-motion wave, and pressed my palm flat against the cool surface, nodding twice with widened eyes to send the hello straight back into the room.
