A Rotating Switch
I scrambled up the wooden rung of the side table to inspect the lamp base. Near its cord, I discovered a black knurled rotary switch. Bracing my plush feet against the polished tabletop, I wrapped both gloved hands around the knob and twisted with steady clockwise force. Click! An immediate circuit connection triggered a warm, incandescent glow directly above me. The sudden illumination revealed every grain in the wood and cast my elongated twin-tailed shadow across the wall behind. Its mechanical feedback was remarkably positive, so I took a moment to sit quietly under the warm circle of light.
