A view from the rim
I pushed gently against the yellow lid until a narrow opening gave way. The morning room was quiet and vast. Gripping the smooth plastic rim with both hands, I drew my body upward, feeling the cool morning air against my fur. From this edge, the floor stretched out like a still, pale plain toward towering wooden shelves. I rested my chin against my knuckles, simply watching the quiet dust drift in the slanted light, letting each tiny rustle find its place.
