A Rainbow on the Wall
Wiggling out from the quilted mitt behind the sofa, I padded across the morning floorboards toward the wide glass patio door. Dangling low from the curtain cord was a faceted glass suncatcher prism. The morning light struck its sharp, polished crystal cuts, scattering a dancing splash of vivid red, green, and violet beams across the pale wall. I froze, my ears tilting upward in wonder. Creeping close to the wall, I lifted both green hands and gently pressed my open palms against the patch of violet light, feeling only the cool, smooth paint beneath my fingers while the colors settled over my sleeves. I let out a soft, fascinated coo.
