Through the Slits
Staring through window glass wasn't cutting it anymore. I squeezed right through the crack under the patio screen door and dropped straight onto the warm stone patio outside! Fresh breeze, open air, real ground beneath my feet. Right in front of me sat a low terra-cotta saucer catching runoff from a flowerpot. No hesitation—I leaned forward, hit top speed across the rough flagstones, and planted one foot on the clay lip to launch clear over the puddle. My landing shook loose a couple of tiny dry clover heads onto the concrete. Finally out here, and the open turf is just a leap away!
