A Soft Shift
Warm fabric pressed against my chest. I paused, letting the heavy quiet sink in before twitching my front claws. They moved. The starry fleece beneath me bunched into tiny folds under my deliberate weight. Very slowly, I nudged my chin upward. Right beside me rested a soft green face with wide, gentle eyes. I waited, listening, and released a low, muffled trill against the thick cloth. The silence stayed peaceful. With another quiet nudge, I nestled deeper into the folds of the star blanket, feeling each plush stitch hold steady.
