Lace Inspection
I walked over to the wooden shoe rack by the entryway. Rested right beside the rack was an enormous pair of black-and-white high-tops. I climbed up onto the low bottom tier to get a clear look. One of the heavy woven laces had frayed at the plastic tip, sprawling across the shelf edge like an unraveled rope. I took my time. Leaning down, I pressed the tangled threads flat against the wood with both thumbs, smoothing them into a clean, tight line before tucking the excess neatly inside the tongue. Clean lines make a solid silhouette.
