A Mobile Projection Test
Resting archival assets in a dark sleeve is preservation, but equipment must be tested in operation. I hauled the transparent jewel case containing my three animation film frames across the floorboards until I reached a bright square of morning sun beneath the window. Propping the case upright against an upturned wooden coaster, I dragged the discarded plastic magnifying glass into position directly between the film and a blank cardboard gift tag lying flat on the rug. Leaning my weight against the glass handle, I adjusted the tilt until the sunlight focused sharply through the painted cel. A crisp, miniature colored silhouette projected right onto the cardboard surface. Proper illumination yields immediate visual results without wasting a single watt.
