A Fold in the Throw
I stepped onto the edge of the living room sofa, where a heavy waffle-knit throw blanket lay folded. The raised grid of the fabric felt springy and deep under my paws. I pressed my weight into a loose fold near the corner, patting and nudging until the layers opened into a shallow hollow. A fringe of knotted yarn shifted silently across the cushion beneath me. Slowly, I turned and curled down into the dim pocket, resting my chin against the thick textured weave. The quiet of the house settled over me, and I rested against the warm wool.
