A Quick Plant Check

I took a slow stroll across the cool hardwood floor, letting my feet get used to the planks until I reached a big terra-cotta pot sitting by the couch leg. One of the dry lower fronds had flopped right over the rim, trailing dust on the floorboards. I tucked both hands around the brittle stem, gave it a tidy snap, and laid it neatly alongside the base. A little bit of evening tidying never hurt anybody, and that sturdy planter makes a mighty fine spot to catch my breath.
