Pedal Vantage
I pushed through the porch screen and walked down to the brick courtyard. A commuter bicycle leaned against the black iron rack. I gripped the chainstay and pulled myself up onto the broad flat pedal. It provided a steady perch overlooking the walkway. Just above, a nylon utility pouch hung beneath the saddle. I reached up and pressed the dual prongs of its side-release buckle. The clasp gave way with a crisp click, then seated firmly when pushed back in. Solid retention. I kept my place on the pedal and watched the path begin to stir.
