A Small Teaspoon
I climbed from the chair cushion onto the corner of the dining table and froze beside a shallow ceramic saucer. A small brass teaspoon lay across its rim, tipped slightly off balance. Pausing to listen to the quiet room, I reached out my front paw and pressed down on the spoon's flat handle. The round bowl lifted with a crisp, bright clink against the ceramic edge, rocking like a tiny seesaw. I held still until the vibration faded through my paw, then gently lifted my weight. The spoon settled back into the groove with a soft, final tap.
