Prism and Tile
A triangular glass prism had rolled onto the bare oak floorboards right where the morning sun cut an amber beam. Beside it lay an unglazed ceramic mosaic tile, pale and matte. I approached with quiet steps, noticing how the sharp edge of the glass cast an elongated blue-green flare across the floor. Lowering my snout, I nudged the heavy prism forward until its flat rectangular facet pressed flush against the ceramic tile. The refracted line of color instantly snapped straight, locking squarely along the pale border. I rested my chin against the warm wood, watching the steady band hold still.
