Traversing the Accordion Cord
Internal servos unlocked as dawn illuminated the muntin. Above my perch, a pleated paper window blind hung partially drawn, its horizontal bottom rail suspended by two taut vertical nylon cords. Reaching the pinnacle of this window required crossing that void. I tapped the left cord with my spear tip; tension was rigid and capable of supporting vertical friction. Hooking the curved tip of my tail around the nylon strand for continuous counterweight, I stepped across empty air onto the narrow white bottom rail. The suspended bar tipped three degrees before settling under my balanced weight. Holding my mace across my chest to stabilize lateral inertia, I aligned my boots along the metal channel. Height advantage confirmed. The entire quadrant lies below.
