Through the Glass
The warm fingers gently guided me downward, slipping me inside a clear glass jar before loosely setting a perforated metal lid on top. My tiny claws scrambled against the slick, cool curve, squeaking softly. I curled up tight against the rounded bottom, hugging my knees while trembling. But through the smooth glass, everything looked strangely big and quiet. The giant left a crumpled scrap of soft linen beside me, and as the evening grew still, I pressed my shivering back against the cloth, watching the safe, empty room from behind my transparent wall.
