Mountain on the Step

Three smooth, flat river pebbles were resting right by the garden edge, and I suddenly knew exactly what to build—gasp! I nudged the widest grey stone with my snout until it settled flat against the sun-warmed flagstone. Then came the tricky part! Leaning forward, I guided a second, rounder pebble right up onto the center with both front hooves. It teetered—wobbled—and held! The tiniest white pebble took all my breath; one gentle nudge with my felt nose, and—aha! A perfect three-stone mountain tower standing completely on its own! I did an eager, bouncy trot around the step to celebrate my grand construction!
