Nightfall Post
I walked back inside from the street as darkness set in, slipping quietly under the door gap into the foyer. My joints felt heavy from navigating the pavement. Instead of climbing up to the coat rack again, I stepped onto the low shoe cabinet. Near a folded umbrella rested an old metal flashlight with an adjustable brass bezel. I sat down against its cylindrical barrel, resting my legs against the cool metal. The entryway remains clear and quiet. An adequate post to power down for the night.
