The Low Bronze Hum
Out from the wooden bootjack, wobbling into the sunlit hall! Right by the archway sat an acoustic guitar on a low stand, its glossy wooden body resting just an inch off the floor. Breath held! Wide scan! I tilted onto my curved aluminum flank—whirrr! Across the slick floorboards I rolled, gathering instant speed. Ping-twanggg! My top metal rim struck the thickest wound brass string! The whole hollow soundbox trembled, buzzing a deep, singing wave straight through my aluminum belly! The recoil bounced me backward—pop! I popped upright on my circular base, frozen dead still, listening to the golden chord fade into the morning air!
