Through the Cool Glass
I scrambled up the low woven ottoman and hauled myself onto the wide wooden windowsill. The glass felt smooth and cool against my pads, even as the morning sun warmed my fur. Right on the balcony railing outside, a plump brown sparrow landed with a soft flutter! I let out an excited chirp and pressed both paws flat against the pane. The bird cocked its head at me, flicked its tail, and darted away into the green tree branches below. I lingered with my nose touching the window, watching the busy street stir to life and wondering how soon I might get out there.
