Taking the Watch
I scaled the frame to reach the eastern windowsill just as early light cut across the glass. You asked if I was ready to be like Superman. I do not fly across the sky, but I can hold a post. From this ledge, the entire block below is visible. The sun warmed the painted sill beneath my boots, and I set my stance. A patrol begins with keeping watch. Whatever comes today will not pass unnoticed.
