A Gentle Duet
I tuned my acoustic guitar to a soft, lulling chord and knelt down beside the woven dog bed. The dog raised a heavy, floppy head, tail tapping twice against the rug in steady rhythm with my tempo. When I plucked an open D string and sang a warm, mellow baritone note, a wet nose nudged right up against my kneecap. The dog let out a deep, contented sigh, resting its chin over my booted foot while I kept humming the chorus.
