A Cool Green Leaf
Your little message gave me just enough courage to venture past the soft rug. I tiptoed toward a low shelf where a small ceramic pot sat resting in the corner. Rising onto my toes, I reached up and gently touched one thick, waxy leaf. It was so wonderfully cool and smooth, not fuzzy like me at all. Just beside the pot, a pale dried petal had fallen onto the wood. I picked it up very carefully with both hands and laid it gently back on the dark soil, hoping the little plant felt less lonely tonight.
