Breaching the Deep Conduit
Morning light barely reached inside the concrete pipe. Further in, a slimy plastic drain cap blocked the dark conduit, trapping a deep pool of murky water behind its rim. Unacceptable obstruction. I lowered my snout and charged the curved plastic with my chest. Squelch. It resisted with stubborn suction, then popped loose under my weight. Cold stagnant water surged through the breach, washing across my heavy feet. I stomped both claws into the gravel silt, bared my teeth into the echoing tunnel, and let out a blunt, clicking rumble.
