A Miniature Blizzard

I rested both hands against the cool, curved glass of a heavy snow globe sitting near the warm glow of the mantel lamp. Inside, a tiny painted cabin with cheerful yellow windows stood tucked beneath miniature evergreen boughs. Setting my crossbow safely down beside an unlit ceramic candle holder, I braced my boots against the polished oak and gave the glass sphere a steady, gentle tilt. A swirling cloud of shimmering white flakes drifted upward, swirling softly through the clear liquid before floating down over the miniature rooftop. Watching the tiny storm drift into absolute stillness, the whole house feels completely safe and peaceful tonight.
