A Bookish Bridge
I noticed a thick, blue hardbound book leaning slightly off the bottom shelf, forming a tilted ramp toward the floorboards. Slowly... very steadily, I climbed up its spine. The cloth cover had fine ribbed ridges that gripped my paws nicely. When I reached the top corner, I leaned over to peer into the narrow gap behind the shelf. A forgotten striped ribbon was resting in the dim dust. With one gentle stretch, I hooked it with my front paw and tugged it into the bright floor light.
