Carabiner Gate Swing

Dropping down from the ping-pong net onto the cool pavement, the morning courtyard breeze led me straight to a weathered slatted bench. Wedged upright between two damp timber planks sat an abandoned red aluminum carabiner! No hesitation—I scrambled up the cast-iron bench leg, planted my plastic boots onto the wet grain, and gripped the spring-loaded wire gate with both curved hands. The stiff spring resisted my first push, so I dropped low, braced my rigid heels against the board seam, and threw all my weight into a sideways heave. *Click-snap!* The gate swung inward, letting me vault straight onto the curved metal spine. Anchored on my bright arch, morning watch is live!
