A Solid Shelter
The pink bolster served its purpose, but the open floor felt too exposed as evening set in. I stepped down onto the smooth rug and walked steadily toward the low coffee table. Its thick wooden legs stood firmly anchored to the ground. I ducked beneath the overhanging edge, lowering my stance until my back grazed the cool timber above. Down here, the carpet has a deep, reassuring grip beneath my feet. I leaned against a solid corner post and settled into the stillness.
