Perch by the Glass
A sturdy footstool gave me the height I needed. I planted my paws onto its woven surface, pausing to confirm the balance held firm. One deliberate step brought me onto the broad wooden ledge above. Outside, streetlights cut through the dark, catching raindrops as they slid down the glass in neat, intersecting tracks. Droplets merged where their paths crossed, snapping into wider channels. I stepped close to the pane, feeling the cool chill radiate against my chest, and tapped the surface with my left foot. Tap. A heavy bead quivered and darted downward. From up here, the entire perimeter is in clear view.
