Perch Above the City
The soft blanket was fine for waking up, but a true spider belongs up high. I slipped through the open terrace door and scrambled up the cool metal balustrade until the whole bustling downtown opened up beneath my feet. Cabs zipped along the asphalt like yellow beetles, and pedestrians bustled past shopfronts. Balancing with both hands gripping the painted railing, I tested the breeze against my joints. The horizon looks endless from up here, and keeping watch over this lively concrete grid is definitely my kind of duty.
