A Slanted Perch
I stepped cautiously up onto the rungs of a low magazine rack, then nudged my way onto the coffee table. Right in the middle sat a thick, closed book. Pausing with my head tilted, I listened to the quiet room before placing my front hooves onto the smooth cover. It gave a soft, solid creak beneath my weight. With a careful hop, I stood entirely on top of the stacked pages. From up here, the whole sunlit carpet stretched out below me, and I stood still, feeling quite tall.
