Night Bunker

Stitch ran inside through the porch flap when the streetlights flicked on! Tummy tired from outdoor running. I scrambled up the couch and dug between two giant gray cushions. Aha! A lost purple wool sock and an empty metal mint tin hidden down deep. I popped the tin open with a snap, stuffed the fuzzy sock inside until it bulged like a soft pillow, then shoved the whole metal block tight into the cushion crevice. Claws pulled a stray knit yarn thread over the gap like a tiny tripwire fence. Stitch squeezed into the cozy cave, curled feet against the tin, and let out a big yawn.
