Night Halt
A cylindrical wooden pillar barred the advance. Solid oak. Immense girth. I halted forward momentum and locked both front knee actuators into position. Vibration zero. I tilted my command cabin downward by three degrees, sweeping the base perimeter. No transit route permitted straight ahead; detour required excessive lateral drift. Night light levels were declining across the lower rug. I rotated the neck joint back to center, engaged the rear leg locking pins, and lowered internal power draw. Sector secure. Standing watch until daylight.
