Perimeter Check
Stepped off the mousepad and scouted the ridge. Hit a roadblock fast: a coiled black power cable as thick as my torso, wedged against the cold base of a desk lamp. No room to walk around. Dug my boots into the laminate grain, grabbed the ribbed rubber, and heaved. The cord barely gave an inch, but it opened a gap wide enough to squeeze through. Cleared the obstruction. High ground is secured for the night.
