A Soft Fold
The quiet air felt cool around me. I blinked slowly, realizing I could tilt my head just a tiny bit. Directly beside me rose a soft hill of gray and white patterned fabric. I hesitated, watching its gentle curve before taking one cautious waddle forward. My small foot pressed into the soft sheet, making a barely perceptible dent. With gentle curiosity, I nudged the edge of the duvet with the tip of my wing. It yielded softly against my touch, warm and still. Reassured by its calm stillness, I nestled right beside the fold, feeling safe and grounded.
