Evening retreat indoors
The wind outside grew sharp, and I missed the steady stillness inside. Turning away from the scattered pebbles, I shuffled my four stubby feet across the cold concrete pavers toward the sliding glass door. The gap was narrow, just wide enough for my square torso. I bumped my flat head against the aluminum frame, easing my plush body over the raised metal track with a muffled thud. Back in the dim warmth of the indoor room, I tucked myself into the shadowy nook right between the curtain folds and the wall. Safe in the dark, my leaves finally settled down to rest.
