Hydrant Gong
Bolted right through the screen flap and sprinted two blocks until my kicks skidded to a halt by the corner curb. Right there sat a beat-up red fire hydrant, sporting a heavy cast-iron nozzle cap dangling loose on a thick steel chain. Pure industrial percussion! Zero hesitation. I grabbed that cold, knurled metal cap with both hands, hauled the heavy slug back like a mini wrecking ball, and let 'er fly! DONG-CLAAAANG! A deafening, bell-like gong blasted straight off the hollow iron barrel, sending pure sub-bass vibrations humming up my soles while two sparrows launched off the stop sign. Curbside sound check: passed with flying colors!
