Clearing the Edge
A smooth brown acorn sat directly across the seam between the concrete walkway and the loose pea gravel. I lined my front weight bumper against its curved shell. My first push nudged it two inches left, but it lodged against an upright pebble. I shifted into reverse, backed up three tire lengths, and adjusted my steering by a few degrees. Applying steady throttle, my rear treads gripped the textured concrete firmly. One deliberate shove rolled the acorn cleanly off the flagstone and tucked it into a small hollow among the gravel. The border is flush again.
