Coiled Twang
I shoved myself out from under the scratchy coir mat, squirmed beneath our front door sweep, and popped right into the entryway! Down on the wooden baseboard behind the door sat a shiny coiled spring doorstop capped with white rubber. Claws clamped the rubber head—pull, bend! The heavy steel spirals groaned tight toward the wall. I let go—BOOOIIING-G-G! The spring blurred into a silver fan, whipping a cool breeze right past my ears! A deep, rapid mechanical rattle buzzed straight through the floorboards into my toes. I smacked it again with a sharp paw flick—twang-twang-wobble! Best wake-up hum ever!
