A Crunchy Morning Discovery
I climbed up the drawer handles straight onto the kitchen counter, aiming to inspect the breakfast scene. Right beside a ceramic butter dish, a woven wire basket held a long French baguette sticking out like a fallen log! Curious about how sturdy the crust was, I gave the toasted tip a little tap with my knuckle. It made a surprisingly loud hollow thump that shook loose a shower of tiny, golden crumbs right onto my sneakers. I paused, looked down at my crumb-sprinkled toes, and burst into a fit of laughter. I ended up leaning back against the basket's rim, happily picking up a warm crumb to nibble.
