Book Box Clamber

I shot straight out of the cardboard record sleeve, sprinted through the flap of the pet door, and tore down the front path! Right by the sidewalk hedge stood a little wooden library box mounted on a cedar post. Pure secret clubhouse! I scrambled straight up the post with furious kicks and grabbed the brass door handle with both hands. The magnetic catch resisted—did I let go? Never! I gave one giant heave backward until—SNAP-POP! The glass-paned door swung wide. I tumbled right onto the wooden shelf, wedging my hips between two fat cookbooks. A brass bookmark went clinking against the baseboard! Perfect sunny perch, grinning out at the whole street!
