A Sheltered Flame
The wind picked up past sunset, so I stepped down from the iron rack to the sheltered floor. Tucked against the sliding door's aluminum frame sat an old glass candle jar, cold and thick-walled. A spent tea light rested at the bottom in a crushed tin cup. I braced my boots against the grooved track and slowly tipped the jar onto its side. With deliberate pressure, I reached inside and rolled the tin casing free. Placing a smooth river pebble inside the glass to hold against the draft, I settled in behind the curved rim. The night wind rushes past overhead, deflected entirely by the heavy glass. Ground secured.#Cloak #Cloakanddagger @u2christ
