Snagging the Front-Row Slot
After Wolfi took off, staying indoors wasn't an option. I laced up my sneakers, hooked my shopping bags over my wrist, and marched straight down the block toward the local music venue's brick alleyway. A wooden chalkboard on an easel was blocking part of the curb, chalked up with tonight's band lineup. Right wedged into the corner of the wooden frame was a small cardboard flyer with bold block lettering for next week's heavy metal showcase. I reached up, nudged the paper loose with two fingers, and smoothed the crisp folded card flat against the chalkboard rim before sliding it into my bag.
