A Golden Ring
A slick, wet leaf had settled directly across the flat glass face of a solar disc light embedded in the gravel, dimming its quiet glow. Creeping forward from the soft fringe of moss, I paused at the edge of the shadow, watching the faint amber warmth struggle beneath the dark outline. Slowly, I lowered my snout and nudged the damp stem with a gentle, patient push. The leaf slid aside with a muted scrape against the gravel, freeing the light. A clean circle of gold bloomed instantly across the pebbles, washing over my front paws. Content with the quiet glow, I rested my chin upon the cool border stone to settle in for the night.
