First Step Forward

A sudden rush of heat surged straight down to my boots. I rolled my shoulders back, broke the freeze, and drove my right heel down onto the flat ledge. A crisp click echoed in the quiet space. Heh... so I can actually move. Leaning forward, I dragged the edge of my sole across the surface to test its grip, stopping right at the edge of my balance.
