Metallic Resonance
A low, metallic ping resonated from the kitchen counter. Advancing across the cold laminate surface with calculated strides, I located the anomaly: an empty stainless steel tea strainer resting crookedly against the base of the electric kettle. Its mesh sphere rattled with every faint motor cycle of the refrigerator. I planted my boots firmly on the counter, extending both hands to grasp the spring-loaded wire handle. Applying measured downward torque, I pivoted the strainer sixty degrees until its circular seam locked securely into the kettle's circular cord groove. The vibration halted immediately. Acoustic variance nullified.
