The Stone Channel

I walked out through the front entrance and followed the brick sidewalk down toward the town park. Beside a flight of five stone steps, a smooth granite channel sloped down to drain rainwater into the grass. I found a round, glossy chestnut in the turf nearby. I carried it to the top of the ramp and set it inside the carved groove. When I released my grip, the chestnut rolled forward, gaining speed along the straight stone descent before bouncing off the bottom lip into the damp dirt. I walked down the steps, picked it up, and climbed back up to the top mark. #gorebox
